Brijit Abstract Writing

October 2nd, 2007 by admin

Brijit is a site that offers abstracts of articles for busy people. They have a writer’s section where you read the articles and submit the abstracts. I did a trial run of 8 abstracts, so far 4 have been accepted. I’m not sure how I feel about these odds as it does take quite a while to read the articles and finalize the abstracts. You do get $5 per article, so I made $20 for about 3 hours worth of work. I think I can do better with associated content, but maybe as I get better at writing what they’re looking for they will accept more of them (you compete with 3 other people to write the abstract.) Even when they accept your abstract, they edit it to death. Also, they don’t seem to have an area for you to check your earnings, change your Paypal address etc. But it is still a nice way to pull in some extra $$

    Hi there,
I’m from Brijit, and I just wanted to thank you for your participation as a writer–we couldn’t create this site without your involvement.

First, as of early next week, we’ll be rolling out all the account and profile features you’re used to–apologies for the delay–so you can see exactly what has been selected and what is still pending.

As for the edits, we’re striving for a consistent helpful tone for the entire site, social media that stands above the fray, and from our experience, our freelancers quickly start to understand our tone and strategy. I’m sure your success percentage will go up, and as it is, it’s really very good. If you have any questions, please contact editorial at brijit dot com.

Some tips to maximize your earnings, which we will be posting soon enough on the site. 1. While it may take more time to read some of the longer articles, often you face no competition, meaning you’re a shoe-in for the $5. 2. If you own the magazine and it’s not available online, you’re going to have less competition as well. 3. The things you really care about will likely shine through in your abstracts.

Anyway, we hope you continue to use the site, not just as a writer, but as a reader, finding some of the best media on the Web, and please let us know if you have any other things you’d like to see included by writing feedback at brijit dot com–reference this blog post, if you’d like. And look out for profiles next week.

    Best,
    Benjamin

Wow! I’m impressed by this personalized response to my blog post. Also, I received personal tips on some of my submissions today from Bryan at Brijit. I will detail more in a new post.
